(Anmerkung: Obwohl das Bild bei Flickr unter CB160 eingeordnet ist, bin ich mir sicher, dass der hochgezogene Auspuff eher für einen Einzylinder spricht. Auch die Grösse, Details wie Gabel, Lenker usw. deuten auf eine C110 und damit dem Vorläufer der SS50)

The Project... This blog will follow the progress of "Salty", a 1965 Honda C110 that is being built into a land speed record setting machine. We hope. This is a purely amateur affair, run out of a two-car garage (that shares space with eight other small bikes and a Formula Vee race car) and should prove entertaining to both Land Speed Veterans – who will no doubt spot numerous mistakes along the way – and Tiddler enthusiasts dreaming of double digit speeds. The race team will consist of Chief Mechanic and Rider Chris Hartman, who will be undertaking his first LSR bike build, and be a complete novice to the ways of LSR event organization. This should be fun. Chris is very lucky to be teamed up with Crew Chief Susan Hartman, who will have the all important task of listening to countless hours of small motorbike technical talk over the next 12 months (while attempting to look interested) and keeping the fridge full of ice cold beer. Her most important task, however, will be keeping the Chief Mechanic/Rider from puking his guts out on the start line of his first time down the salt. Nerves of steel he is not.

Leider ist der letzte Eintrag aus dem November 2008, hoffentlich geht dieses Projekt weiter. Einen Besuch ist der Blog auf jeden Fall wert.

Für diese “anderen” ist die neue Rubrik “Classic” in diesem Online-Magazin angelegt worden. Und einen aktuellen Anlass, über alte Monkeys zu diskutieren, gab es gerade: denn letzte Woche wurde eine Ur-Monkey vom Typ CZ100 im eBay verkauft. Was schon erwähnenswert ist, denn da findet man vielleicht eine im Jahr – wenn überhaupt. Deswegen wurde mehrfach nachgefragt, was eine CZ100 denn eigentlich wert sei. Eine Frage, die sich schwer beantworten lässt, denn es handelt sich um einen äußerst ideellen Wert. Doch aktuelle Beispiele können hier schon einmal gezeigt werden:

Man sieht hier, trotz des schlechten Zustandes, ein kleines Sahnestückchen: es handelt sich wohl um eine Honda CZ100 Mark 1 Series 1, das war die erste, ab 1963 verkaufte Honda Monkey, die in nur kleinen Stückzahlen für den europäischen Markt produziert wurde. Dieser wirklich übel aussehende “Rest” brachte immerhin €2060. Und ist dabei den wichtigsten Dingen beraubt: Lampe, Rücklicht, Auspufftopf, Embleme… vor allem die Lampe wurde nur für dieses Modell gebaut und ist definitiv nicht mehr zu bekommen.

Im letzten Jahr war eine nicht weniger verrottete, aber vollständigere CZ100 im amerikanischen eBay, und brachte in einer Reserve Auktion $4050, was zum damaligen Kurs etwa €3200 waren:

Genau der gleiche Anbieter (aus Californien) hatte aber noch mehr anzubieten:

Der Sofortkauf mit $21000 war dann wohl doch etwas übertrieben. Als Reserve-Auktion brachte es diese vollständig original restaurierte CZ100 dann auf $8400 (rund €6500). Recht interessant las sich die Beschreibung zu diesem Monkeybike:

“1963 HONDA CZ100 WHITE TANK MARK 1 SERIES 1. This is the most beautiful motorcycle on the face of the Earth and maybe even the Universe. This is the one and only very very rare white tank model. This little bike has the correct rounded factory fenders, not the aftermarket squared off fenders. The original Dunlop tires that came with the bike from the factory are on this wonderful machine. And get this, the N.O.S. ‘Lodge’ pink spark plug that was manufactured in Britain is on this machine. Of course it has the correct Dark Red tailight lense. I dont know what else I can tell you about this Gem of a bike. In my entire collection of motorcycles this bike is the hardest bike to part with….”

Beide CZ’s haben die unbekannte Reserve-Marke nicht geknackt und wurden somit nicht offiziell verkauft. Vermutlich wollte der Anbieter nur mal zeigen, was er so in seiner Sammlung stehen hat. Eine restaurierte CZ100 Mark 2, die im Vergleich zur Mark 1 eine kleine Modellpflege erhalten hatte und Ende 1964 / Anfang 1965 von Honda angeboten wurde, wechselte ihren Besitzer im Jetzten Jahr für rund €5500.

Diese Preise sprechen für sich! Wirft man einen Blick auf den Verkaufsproskept aus dem Jahre 1963, kann es einem da schnell Tränen in die Augen treiben:
