Zuerst war es nur eine kleine Kiste mit einem zerlegten Honda 12V Motor, den ich bei eBay ersteigert hatte. Natürlich defekt und natürlich die Kickstarterwelle und der 1.Gang krumm getreten. Trotzdem sollte das jetzt das erste Motorenprojekt werden. Mein erster Motor, den ich alleine wieder aufbauen wollte. Allein? Wenn man das reinigen, Strahlen und Zusammenschrauben nimmt, stimmt der Begriff, ansonsten hatte ich viele mit Rat und Tat helfende Hände.
Zum Beginn hatte ich nur an eine Reparatur und Instandsetzung gedacht, doch dann entwickelte sich daraus die Idee für eine Drehorgel, wie sie heute mit Motorenbau üblich sind. Entstanden ist so The Speedster! Ein Honda AB22 Motor mit Bohrung 54mm x Hub 41,4mm, einem Nice ZN110 Zylinderkopf , einer R20 Nockenwelle und Handkupplung. Kolbenmaß und Hub zusammengerechnet ergeben sich damit 95 ccm Hubraum. Nach dem Zusammenbau wollte ich eigentlich The Speedster mit einem Mikuni TM 24 Flachschieber mit 120 HD Mikuni-Maß, d.h. ca. 102,5 nach Keihin, bestücken, zwischenzeitlich habe ich aber einen etwas kleineren Keihin Rundschieber verbaut um generell die Fahrleistungen zu testen. Die ersten Ergebnisse auf dem Leistungsprüfstand kurz vor Weihnachten waren eher etwas ernüchternd – vermutlich war aber eine Zuleitung locker und erzeugte so die unerwarteten Spitzen und Einbrüche im Diagramm. Ein erneuerter Versuch steht deshalb noch an.
